Democrat Representative Calls For Nancy Pelosi To Resign

Did HELL just freeze over? A Democrat calling for Nancy Pelosi’s resignation?

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said that Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) should resign from her position after she bungled the response to allegations of sexual harassment against Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.).
Here’s the video of Moulton calling for Pelosi to resign:

“It is up to you as a member of Congress, it is up to Nancy Pelosi as the Democratic leader,” said MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki, “it is up to Paul Ryan as the Speaker of the House to police your colleagues and to police the members of the House of Representatives. So I think it does raise a question here about your assessment, and it sounded to me in this Buzzfeed article like you were critical of her handling of this.”

“The leader of your party, faced with an allegation of sexual harassment, of rampant sexual harassment by a long-standing Democratic member,” Kornacki continued. “How do you assess her leadership on this? Did she face this seriously enough?

“Steve I think that we all agree that when she came out on the Meet the Press interview,” Moulton responded, “she was not, she did not say the right things in any respect, she didn’t respect the women who have brought forward these allegations, ah claim that we didn’t know who they are, in fact, we do know who they are. They’ve been remarkably brave in sharing their stories.”

“But my point is that my positions on party leadership are very clear,” he explained. “And I’ve been calling for our leader to step down and allow a new generation of leaders to step up and lead our party forward for a long time. But what I don’t want to do is distract from the fact that this is a very serious issue.”

“It is about a lot of women who are really being hurt,” he concluded. “And you know we’ve been having some conversations about this just in my office, you know, to talk about the culture that we have, and what we can do to make sure that right in my office on capital hill, we have a culture where people feel supported, where if they have any concerns whatsoever they can come forward with those concerns.”

What did Pelosi say?

In an interview after the allegations surfaced, Pelosi said that Conyers was an “icon” and focused on the due process he deserved, implying that the women who accused him were lying. She later apologized for her comments.
